Kim HolmesIn Bowen Therapist, Clinical Aromatherapy, Massage, Reflexology
I am a fully qualified Bowen Therapist registered with both the Bowen Therapy Professional Association (BTPA) and the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC). I am in my seventh year as a full time therapist after re-training following redundancy, this is what I do! I was hooked on this amazing therapy from the start, and that passion and excitement shows no sign of dimming – in fact I am more fascinated with every session I do!
I work with a wide range of clients from young babies to the elderly, and love the fact that Bowen is so inclusive. It can be administered through light clothing and whilst either laying on a couch, sitting or even standing! Bowen treats the body as a whole, so potentially anything may respond – physical or emotional, acute or chronic.
As a qualified Clinical Aromatherapist, I never use pre blends and offer a fully bespoke service, selecting individual essential oils and carrier oils to make a blend appropriate for your concerns after a full consultation. This will often be administered through massage, but I can also apply compresses and make creams, lotions and bath blends for home use to complement treatment in your appointment. I am also qualified to work with aromatherapy throughout pregnancy and am an Associate of the International Federation of Professional Aromatherapist (IFPA), currently undertaking study to upgrade to level 5 and full membership. I give tips and advice for the safe use of these wonderful but highly concentrated oils.
I am a qualified reflexologist, registered with the Association of Reflexologists, and am qualified to provide Reflexology Lymphatic Drainage (RLD). Developed to mirror Manual Lymphatic Drainage and adapted for application via the reflexes of the feet (or hands!), the original protocol was researched and developed by Sally Kay whilst working in cancer care for clients with unilateral secondary lymphoedema of the arm. Indications are that RLD, like MLD, may be helpful for many other concerns including respiratory, skin and sinus problems and fatigue.
Outside of work I love walking in the fresh air, cooking and gardening. I volunteer for Dogs Trust, and am on the West Yorkshire Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre committee. Between all of this you will find me reading studies and articles about fascia – the endlessly fascinating connective tissue in our bodies, researching oils and many other things!
