Bowen is a gentle and hands-on remedial therapy suitable for all ages from newborn. It is non-invasive and can be administered through light clothing and whilst either laying on a couch, sitting or even standing! Bowen treats the body as a whole, so potentially anything may respond – physical or emotional, acute or chronic. I primarily use my fingers and thumbs to make small, precise rolling type movements over soft tissue (fascia), muscles, tendons and ligaments. No hard tissue manipulation or force is used or needed. Rather than forcing change Bowen asks the body to recognise and make the changes it requires. The body is allowed to rest between sets of moves to allow it to absorb the information it has received and initiate the healing process. I’m a fully qualified Bowen Therapist registered with both the Bowen Therapy Professional Association (BTPA) and the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC)
Aromatherapy is used to help maintain physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing by the correct application of pure essential oils, creating balance and equilibrium within a person. It is often assumed that aromatherapy is simply a fragrant massage, however the real effects of clinical aromatherapy can be deeper and even more therapeutic. As a qualified Clinical Aromatherapist, I never use pre-blends and offer a fully bespoke service, selecting individual essential oils and carrier oils to make a blend appropriate for the client’s concerns after a full consultation. This will often be administered through massage, but I can also make and apply face masks, compresses, creams, lotions and bath blends, and for home use to complement treatment in appointments. I am also qualified to work with aromatherapy throughout pregnancy, and an interest in aromatherapy and hormones, including menopause. I am an Associate of the International Federation of Professional Aromatherapist (IFPA), currently undertaking a bespoke study programme to upgrade my qualification to level 5 and full membership. I give tips and advice for the safe use of these wonderful but highly concentrated oils.
Reflexology is a popular and relaxing treatment based on the principle that reflex points on the soles, tops and sides of feet correspond with areas of the body. I am a qualified reflexologist, registered with the Association of Reflexologists (AoR), and am also qualified to provide Reflexology Lymphatic Drainage (RLD). Developed to mirror Manual Lymphatic Drainage and adapted for application via the reflexes of the feet (or hands!), the original protocol was researched and developed by Sally Kay whilst working in cancer care for clients with unilateral secondary lymphoedema of the arm. Indications are that RLD, like MLD, may be helpful for many other concerns including respiratory, skin and sinus problems and fatigue.
Facial Reflexology is a wonderfully relaxing treatment, supporting your body and working on the same healing principles of foot reflexology, making it an ideal option for those who are reluctant to have their feet worked on! Facial reflexology can have a direct rejuvenating effect on the skin and aims to:
- Bring a general feeling of calmness and relaxation
- Relieve the effects of stress
- Reduce tension in the muscles and soft tissue
- Improve circulation to the face and head area and assist lymphatic drainage
- Relieve mental strain and improve concentration
- Help skin look brighter and fresher
Zone Face Lift is a unique and non-invasive method created by Ziggie Bergman, drawing on traditional reflexology, Asian body mapping, specialist tools including jade gua sha and advanced facial massage techniques, the Zone Face Lift is receiving ecstatic press coverage and being hailed by many as a credible alternative to Botox
Through a fully bespoke programme* Zone Face Lift aims to:
- Calm and uplift, with all the wellbeing benefits of foot reflexology
- Help to reduce stress and release tension and emotions held in the face
- Naturally stimulate collagen and elastin from the inside, tightening, plumping, sculpting and smoothing out fine lines and wrinkles and lifting the face
- Promote a brighter, glowing complexion, even after one treatment
As a trained Clinical Aromatherapist I also make and use bespoke, prescriptive products where beneficial to enhance the treatment
*Single treatments are also available
Massage has been used for thousands of years in numerous cultures for physical and emotional benefit, and involves the manipulation of soft body tissues using various techniques, including Swedish and neuromuscular. I have also undertaken specialised training in pregnancy massage and am qualified to work with you throughout your pregnancy and post-partum, and can also run sessions for couples, to get the partner involved, and teaching some simple moves to practise at home leading up to labour.
