Never has accessing your GP been so difficult. Excessive workload and an estimated third of GP’s considering retirement in the next 5 years places greater health worries on the public sector. Amounting to an increase in poor health of the nation.
This aside it is now estimated that waiting time to access NHS diagnostic and treatment services if 12-24 months.
To bridge the gap Nicki’s wellbeing clinics are offering certain services that may be viewed as less of a priority for primary and NHS care services.
Nicki’s foundations lie in Orthopaedic and Surgical nursing. Before specialising as a Public Health Nurse in 2006 and then specialising in prescribing and Aesthetics in 2017. Specialities include weight loss and obesity management clinics.
Affiliated with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and Royal College of Nurses (RCN).
Services include:
Drop-in wellbeing clinics:
Medical consultation, blood pressure, pulse, height, weight, body mass index (BM), urinalysis, diabetic and cholesterol checks. GP letters where clinically governed.
Weight loss:
Weight and obesity management clinics. Prescriptions available for weight loss treatments if clinically indicated.
Diagnostics:
Audiometry checks – There are multiple reasons that can lead to hearing loss. This assessment consists of an inner ear inspection, hearing test and onward referral letter to a GP if clinically indicated.
Spirometry tests – are used to check your lung function and breathing is healthy. It can also assist with a diagnosis of the lungs such as asthma or COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder). Blood pressure, height and weight is needed prior to commencing this test. If you are prescribed inhalers these should be brought with you to the assessment. If clinically indicated an onward referral letter will be provided for you to take to your GP.

Fitness for Work/Occupational Health Services
Occupational Health Services As defined by the World Health Organization (WHO) “occupational health deals with all aspects of health and safety in the workplace and has a strong focus on primary prevention of hazards”.
Occupational health works closely with H&S with focus on health surveillance and medicals to ensure health does not impact on work, and work does not impact on health. The role of occupational health also supports employees and employers who experience recurrent short term or long-term absences from work by proving a clinical opinion on fitness to work, considering underlying medical conditions and disabilities, and applying the rule of adjustments in line with the Equality Act (2010). In some cases facilitating the process of ill health retirement.
Occupational health has the education, skill, and experience to liaise with GPs and Consultants who are involved in the care of their patient. This collaborative approach ensures the best outcome is achieved for the patient/employee.
Reports are not provided to their place of work without explicit consent for the release of information.
